Yu Suzuki is a man with, in his words, a "vision," and it doesn't seem like he'll be stopping at anything to fulfill it. Just last weekend Shenmue stuck a hand out of the grave when Suzuki announced his Kickstarter for Shenmue III. Now it's up to fans of the series and people who have only heard of its legend to grab that hand and help it out of the cemetery.

Shenmue III has already reached its 2 million dollar funding goal, but there are stretch goals from here to the moon and according to Suzuki, "if we reach the $5 mil mark, one of the things I really want to do with Shenmue 3 will become a reality."

That's not all Suzuki said however, he also had all of this to say to the eager Reddit questioners:

"There will be part time jobs that will be indicative of those you would find in China. In the Stretch goals there will also be the old favourites."

"There is a 60 horsepower bike in Shenmue 1. For Shenmue, 3 I was thinking about something with 1 horsepower."

"They are new systems, so naturally they need new names. The Rapport System will govern changes in Shen Hua's actions depending on your conversations with or actions towards her. The 'Character Perspective System' will highlight different characters personalities as they go through the story."

"I see the share of mobile games increasing, the budgets of games decreasing. It will be harder to express a game's vision. I would hope the console and PC markets gain more popularity."

"I would like to bring back the Journal. That [using the PS4 touchpad to flip through the pages] is an interesting idea, I will look into it. Thank you."

"I will say this: if we reach the $5 mil mark, one of the things I really want to do with Shenmue 3 will become a reality. At $10 million, it will truly have the features of an open world."

In addition to all that Suzuki is also aiming for and teasing the return of old features like the famous fully playable in-game arcade games, duck racing, and the Shenmue I practice mode.
