Wolfenstein Gotta' Waitenstein
Wolfenstein 3D is one of the most influential FPS game of all time and Wolfenstein: The New Order "needs to be the best Wolfenstein game ever made, and you can't shortcut that," Bethesda Softworks VP of PR and Marketing Pete Hines said in a short interview to Polygon. "It can't have the same historical impact of Wolfenstein 3D, but it can be a better game".
And that's why it's being moved from Q3 2013 to 2014.
Hyne says that New Order is not just a shooter - it also has driving, stealth and story elements (the latter so sorely lacking from the newest Call of Duties), so they must be perfect, since you can't just nail down the shooting part and call it a day. That why the studio is given more time to finish it - especially so since the game has been in development for so long and Bethesda doesn't want to fudge it by denying it the time needed.
Assuming this is all true, that's kind of a refreshing perspective from the side of publishers, who are known for imposing time restraints with sometimes disastrous results - just like at what happened to Knight of the Old Republic II. Also, it would be nice if they didn't half ass the stealthing and driving like the games that are not focused on those things tend to do.
Still no news if the game will end by travelling back in time to prevent the events of the game and making all the story moot, though.

I'm sorry, but I remain entirely unconvinced. Maybe if we had some gameplay footage to judge by..?
