Warren Spector’s New Shindig

Warren Spector, creator of Deus Ex, is the new director of The University of Texas, at Austin's Denius-Sams Gaming Academy. The development-focused post-baccalaureate program will launch next fall. Spector, who was one of the first veterans that signed on to the program, along with Blizzard COO Paul Sams, Ultima creator Richard Garriott, EA CCO Richard Hilleman, and BioWare co-founder Greg Zeschuk.
With only 20 candidates being selected for the first semester, those being picked will receive a tuition waiver, and $10,000 housing stipend. The shift in career is due to the shutting of Disney Interactive Studios subsidiary, Junction Point Studios. At least this type of program will encourage up-and-coming programmers to get into the games industry.
