The latest Steam Client Beta is making moves to support VR, even though VR isn't a huge part of the marketplace already. It seems that Valve is anticipating a VR headset that's going to be more widely available to consumers. Love it or hate it, VR is the next thing coming up in gaming, or at least, we think so. The Oculus Rift made enough waves already, and Sony appears to be joining the fray.

Personally, I think virtual reality is gimmicky. I can understand the appeal of immersion within games, but I've never liked the "progressions" we've made past a screen barrier. The 3DS gave me a headache, and I can't stand 3D movies. In today's economy as well, all I can see in regards to developments like these are a chance for the industry to overprice big budget titles and try and force the gimmick. I'm wary. It's a bit encouraging to see Valve going along with it (as aside from the whole Half-Life 3 thing, they can do no wrong in my eyes), but eh... not stoked.
