Valve Rolling Out Hardware Beta

Set to begin next year, Valve announced plans to begin a hardware beta test. Recruitment for the beta is currently top priority, since Valve’s hardware is still bouncing around in the prototype stages.

Inventor Jeri Ellsworth is at the forefront of the project, with her and her team developing several prototypes with the overarching goal "to make Steam games more fun to play in your living room." The hardware prototypes are aiming to skirt around many of the issues that make playing Steam games impractical away from their typical setting. The hardware has already been undergoing several internal tests, but no word was given on exactly what kind of hardware was in development.

As far as the “wearable computing” concepts, Ellsworth and her team have come up with a variety of solutions, but it will be 2-5 years before the team reveals anything major. The team will also be documenting the process of creating the hardware, however it is still to be revealed exactly how much information about the project will be made available.

I wish they start making real announcements. This teasing is starting to get a bit annoying.
