Unreal Army 3

It says something about the USA when their training simulators are going to be running on an engine made by a company called Epic Games. It says something absolutely awesome. Anyway, Unreal Engine 3 has now been licensed to Intelligent Decisions, the company in charge of creating training simulators for the US Army, through which allows them to develop and hone combat tactics, simulate real-life situations and generally increase their effectiveness in the field. This license has been secured via the Unreal Government Network, which is a program that handles government contracts for the aforementioned engine.

The engine will then be utilized to increase the realism of various aspects in their training simulators, such as the movement of the various models, the environment in which the training takes place, as well as the haptic feedback from incoming fire, as stated by Clarence Pape, the Vice President of Simulation and Training. As a National Serviceman in the Army myself, I have to admit the training simulators that I've experienced have so far failed to impress - perhaps with this meaty engine behind the created software, they will create something truly amazing? Let's just hope the Army doesn't get too busy recreating Unreal Tournament 3 though, we still need people to fight those (real) wars.
