UK Budget Screws Gamers

Thanks to the British government closing a tax loophole, we gamers will see a rise on the price of games. The Guardian is reporting that from the start of 2015, games and entertainment will be taxed according to the laws of the country they are bought in. This means that buy something from Amazon or Steam, and you will pay 20 per cent VAT.
According to MCV calculations, a 69p app will cost 79p, an £6.99 Indie game will creep to £8 and an AAA title priced at £34.99 will rise to £40. This will bridge the gap between prices on the high street and online stores, but the biggest winners will be the government, who set to gain £300. Come on let us have some fun in life, we get screwed every other way, videogames is our escape from reality. Let us know your thoughts.

I'm going to take some flack for this. But...I don't think it's such a terrible idea. It sucks massive, hairy donkey balls, don't get me wrong. But it also makes a lot of sense in the current climate. And honestly, I'd rather see the government putting higher taxes on luxury items (which games are) than on food and wages
