Ubisoft Reports 35% Decrease in Sales in Q3
Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag is a pretty great game, but unfortunately it doesn't look like it was quite great enough to carry Ubisoft's profits through the next gen console launch, as Ubisoft reported a 35% drop in sales during the third quarter of 2013/2014 fiscal year, ending December 31st 2013. Reporting 520 million euros ($709.5 million) for the third quarter while they made 813 million euros ($1.1 billion) in the first 9 months of the fiscal year.
Ubisoft shipped 10 million copies of Black Flag, while Rocksmith lagged behind by about 9 million, shipping just over a million copies. Ubisoft probably has quite a bit riding on South Park: The Stick of Truth, the Next Gen Rayman Legends, and Watch Dogs. Time will tell if sales improve, but based on Ubisoft's recent successes I have no reason to think they won't pull something off.
