Ubisoft Announces Valiant Hearts: The Great War
Ubisoft, at its Digital Days event, showed a first look at their World War 1 based game Valiant Hearts: The Great War. Players will take part in a touching, yet comical adventure following five characters, whose paths cross during the Great War. The game is being developed by a small team at Ubisoft Montpelliar, which have created games such as Beyond Good and Evil and the Rayman series.
Graphically the game is going to be done in a comic book style using the UbiArt Framework, so that they got access to a wide range of colours. These will allow for dark trenches, green forests and snowy scenes to be realistic so that they will look gorgeous. Ubisoft plans to release the game in 2014, to mark the centennial of the First World War.
Some key features of the game are:
An animated comic book adventure - Dark Trenches to Green forests everything will have a detailed look about them.
A mix of exploration, action and puzzles - Players will be sneaking behind enemy lines or solving puzzles to help the heroes survive.
Follow the stories of 5 characters - play each of the characters with their crossed destinies. And there is a sixth character, their faithful canine companion who helps them.
Relive the Great War from 1914 to 1918 - The fictitious story will take you to famous locations from WW1
Powered by UbiArt Framework - This engine really brings the game to life.
From looking at the trailer and the images provided, this is looking like a very promising take on a war game, which is done in a different style to the various war games that are available at the moment. The graphics style looks great and the unique story makes this a standout game. Let us know what you think.
