For those who don't know, Twitch is a platform for live streaming.  The range of streaming is anywhere from live vidcasts and D&D to new and retro gaming.  While nearly the pinnacle of awesome and lunch time filler, Twitch also has its problems.  A lead admin, "Horror," made a mistake that, after cascading upon itself repeatedly, led to a major incident.  The start of this came about when a streamer, "cyghfer," allegedly had 3 illegal emoticons, question being whether they were of copyrighted material; apparently one of the three was not.  Others say that Horror uploaded inappropriate material for a boyfriend.  We'll let the internet police sort that one out.

Whatever the case, requisite spark for the ensuing flamewar acquired, the speed running community pointed out apparent inconsistencies in Twitch's emoticon policy (yeah, those exist) and, after a disagreement that resulted in cyghfer's banning, things became serious.  Most accounts agree that Horror received some abuse for misusing admin powers, but then used said powers to ban more dissenting users, many of which were a part of a "Remove Horror" campaign.  Posters flocked to r/gaming and blasted the events and this is where things escalated to another level entirely: censorship.

A Twitch volunteer there also working as a site admin saw fit to delete conversation pertinent to the rogue Twitch admin.  Twitch proper responded quickly, vocally opposing the Horror's decisions and dedicating resources to damage control, issuing an official apology.  In the afterhours, Twitch has reinstated banned accounts, some pending investigation.  Horror has resigned and the reddit admin has been relieved of his/her duties.  Despite wrongs being righted, it is expected that this incident will taint future moderation issues, making things just a bit more complicated in the future.
