Transistor In Action
Supergiant Games are creators of an awesome game called Bastion. And now we have some footage from their new work, called Transistor. In it, a singer called Red is attacked by mysterious assassins. They take her voice, sure, but she gets her hands on Transistor, a kick-ass mysterious sword. Now it's time to get back at the killers and find out just what the hell do they want.
The comment-less footage that the Cynical Brit posted shows us that Transistor is, from the view perspective and narrative sense, quite similar to Bastion, which is, of course, a good thing.
Now, the fight is another thing altogether. While you may use your default attacks, the Transistor sword comes equipped with a recharging bullet time planning mode. In it, time stops and you plan your route and attacks. They fill a gouge on top of the screen - that is the limit of your planning extent. Once you're done, the flow of time resumes and Red does all that was planned out - but oh so quicker. After that you can resort back to default attacks or wait for the gauge to fill. Another interesting thing is that killed enemies seemed to re-spawn if you did not collect their batteries.
And I have a sneaking suspicion that there's going to be a JRPG-like twist about you and everyone living in a computer. I sure hope I'm wrong and I'll find out how wrong I am in early 2014.
