It really does say something when watching a video of someone getting trashed by the developers of the very game that they're playing, while listening to their laughing commentary on it, turns out to be the highlight of my night. And what it says is simple: Rome 2 Total War is amazing and we all should be bowing down before Creative Assembly, our new Lords and Masters.

But seriously, this Let's Play video does showcase some very interesting new mechanics, as well as the visceral joy of some of the older techniques, such as cavalry charges into archer formations, or the deployment of heavy infantry in smashing aside skirmishers. Furthermore, there seems to be a heavy emphasis on morale mechanics, always a fascinating concept in the Total War strategic side of things, taking into account more things than simply the concept of numbers and weapons, but rather taking into account a hundred little factors. The UI looks gorgeous and - and well, I'm starting to gush. So let's just end this here and say this: Rome 2 Total War looks like it's going to be absolutely the best game I've been anticipating this year, and I've pretty much pinned all my hopes and dreams on it. Prove me right, Creative Assembly. Prove me right.
