Tomb Raider in the Black
Last years Tomb Raider reboot, despite selling over 4 million units and setting records during the first week of sales, Square Enix were less than happy with the results, and partially blamed it for financial losses in 2013. However Crystal Dynamics' Scott Amos told Eurogamer last week that by the end of 2013, Tomb Raider managed to cover its development costs.
"By the end of last year - Tomb Raider is in the black. We've crossed the line of profitability for the last-gen and PC versions."
Whilst being described as a financial disappointment by Square Enix, the Xbox One and PS4 enhanced port Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition is set for release on the 28th january. It begs the question, if "nobody" bought the game in the first place, why rerelease the game to a smaller audience, many of which may have already played the original?
