There May Be More Witchers After All

By SavageOcto07-02-2013

After studio head Adam Badowski made statements of Witcher 3 being the last in the series CD Projekt Red is making some corrections to what he said. According to Eurogamer, what Badowski meant to say was Witcher 3 was the last in a trilogy.

"This is the last part of the trilogy, in which there will be a great finale of the story. However, this doesn't mean the end of the franchise," Adam Kicinski, CDPR CEO, told Polish Press Agency. "[The franchise] will be continued."

Good news for Witcher fans then, as there's bound to be more after Witcher 3 comes out. And good for CDPR as The Witcher series as a whole just passed 5 million units sold.

5 million is a nice start. They deserve better, but coupled with the growth of the GOG platform I believe they have a bright future ahead of them. The fact that Cd projekt has nothing to lose in the console space helps them, since they can perfectly launch The Witcher 3 on next gen platforms without worrying about investors and crazy commercial stunts. I think that Bioware is tackling The Elder Scrolls game with Dragon Age 3, but if Cd projekt delivers with the third game (world exploration for example), they have yet another big player, and what a player it is.
