The World Mapped Out
Another week, another interesting Rome 2 tweet. It's another panorama image, but this time it's not depicting a great and brutal battle. This time, we're served a nicely laid out piece of the world map!
Seems to me that what we're overlooking here, is the Roman Empire, as seen from the snowy peaks of the Alps in the north. You'll see plenty of differently aligned armies, including some barbarians near the bottom. Panning to the far left will let you see modern-day France and Britain on the horizon while the far right shows the Spanish realm, where Carthage seems to be at a civil war. If you zoom far enough into the top of the image, you might barely eye out the northern coast of Africa in the mist.
It's hard to tell who all the different armies belong to, as only the playable factions' crests have been revealed so far. It's interesting to note that, along with various armies represented with their banners - striped to show the size - there are also hero characters spread out all over the map, represented by the circle above their heads. It would seem that Creative Assembly are taking these historic characters to the next step by making them more unique, both visually and in terms of gameplay.
