The Witcher Boardgame on the Horizon
The Witcher was a great RPG released in 2007 on the PC. Whilst it had many, many problems at launch, the stalwart efforts of CD Projekt Red fixed it, and from its success, made the Witcher 2 in 2011. With the 3rd installment in the nitty gritty world of Geralt coming soon, it is odd that an Action Adventure spinoff is on the horizon...although it may not be what you were expecting.
The Witcher Adventure Game a board game set in the Witcher universe. You play as Geralt, Triss, Dandelion or Zoltan and explore the treacherous world the video games portrayed. Furthermore, they are toting some impressive replay value with each game being different, 350 pieces, and of course, it has 4 player multiplayer built in. Interestingly enough, if you have an iOS or Andriod tablet, you can even play the digital version.
Now some of you may be thinking that this is a cheap spin off to take advantage of a fantastic license, but you might be wrong. The Witcher started as a spin off from the popular books, so going from Book, to Video Game, to Board Game is not that big of a jump. And with games like Doom getting very successful board game releases in the past, it is not uncommon for this to happen.
With The Witcher 3 just around the corner, this card board iteration could be the perfect time filler as you wait to continue your digital journey as Geralt.
