The Truth That South Park is Delayed
Oh my god, they delayed South Park: The Stick of Truth. This is the news that was announced by Ubisoft on their blog. The game was due to be release this December, but now they have given a release date of 4th March USA and 7th March here in the UK. So what reason did Ubisoft give for this delay?
When Ubisoft first picked the game, they thought that it would be easy. The plan was to put some marketing muscle behind The Stick of Truth, throw in some additional development resources, and then cross the finish line with creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone. They say the game is almost done, so what more can they do? They could still have done more according to Ubisoft North America's president Laurent Detoc:
"Within three weeks after acquiring the game, we sadly realized we had to turn this thing upside down if we hoped to deliver the experience everybody wanted. It's been such a major overhaul to get to the point where we are that we couldn't let it go, even if that meant missing December."
South Park Creators did agree, as they had this to say about the delay:
"We always wanted the game to feel like you're actually in an episode of South Park. Getting the game up to the crappy standards of the show has been a real challenge and we're excited to say it's taken way longer than we thought it would."
I am just disappointed with this news, so what I said when I covered the initial release date is still true. They can suck on my chocolate salty balls. At least we have some gameplay to keep us warm whilst we wait. Leave us your comments below.
