The THQ I Used To Know
It's in the bag. According to the people at DDInvesting the results are in and SEGA are now the proud owners of Relic. Preliminary reports show that the entire thing came to a little over a hundred million, with SEGA throwing in an entire quarter of that for Relic alone. A fact that seems to be supported by Kyle Brandts rather laconic tweet "I now work for Sega. Neat." Oddly, it seems that Vigil have been completely ignored. But that seems to be all she wrote. THQ, as we know it, is no more, but they are far from lost. The rest will be sold for the highest bidder.
$26M for Relic (Sega)
$2.5M for THQ Montreal (Ubisoft)
$3.2M for South Park (Ubisoft)
$11M for Evolve (Take-Two)
$22.3M for Volition (Koch Media)
$5.8M for Metro (Koch Media)
$500k Homefront (Crytek)
And not Activision or EA in sight, at least not yet.

I was worried it might come across as a little snarky though. But meh. You're right. It's good news indeed. I mean, you could argue that EA now have their hands on Homefront, through Crytek, but that's something that they pretty much took over already. So it's all good

Shit. Hope SEGA wont ruin it (though they take good care of Total War), hope Ubi wont ruin it with their DRM and leave the games steamwork, Hope Deep Silver can step up to making REALLY GOOD AND SOLID games with those studios, and hope Crytek doesnt fuck up Homefront with F2P

I'm calling this a success. it's a shame that THQ are 'gone'. But man am I relieved to know their legacy will go on.
Now where's my Red Island?
