The Strelock's Bite Stays Sharp
Following yesterdays report regarding the future of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R franchise we are relieved to offer some news. GSC have made things clear for us: “BitComposer doesn’t have any rights as to S.T.A.L.K.E.R., except for distributing our game Call of Pripyat in some territories,” a representative said. Going on to add they may have purchased some rights via Roadside Picnic, but this gives them no sway over the S.T.A.L.K.E.R franchise or setting.
As of right now, GSC are keeping a firm hold of all rights to the intellectual property as a whole. Though they did add that they were considering (and this must be stressed, considering!) selling the rights. But only, stress, considering only selling the rights to a developer and/or publisher of quality. Specifics of what they class as quality should be immediately self-evident from, well, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. So, I wonder, who would we like to see pick up the reins and bring us the next instalment?
