The first expansion for Diablo 3, Reaper of Souls, received its first trailer. The trailer shows many of the new features being implemented into the game such as enchanting, a new adventure mode, and a new character class. The adventure mode is based around bounty hunting for XP, as well as entering a Nephalem Rift, the new dungeon area. The new character class is the Crusader, who has not been detailed as of yet. As well as this there is also a new process called Transmogrification, which could potentially be a thing that involves shape-shifting weapons. More details about this trailer will be revealed at Blizzcon this weekend.

It's hard to even buy a good game published by EA when at the same time they're boning people out of their money with micro-transactions

And I suppose I'm a mug then. Because I do not support EA's intrusive and offensive business practices. And please, do mention an absolutely FANTASTIC game EA have MADE this year. Hell, mention one they've at least published! Battlefield 4 doesn't quite count. I already bought that game two years ago.

Peter, to level up the gems to be effective, you need to have a certain level of strength/dex/intelligence. A marauder cannot simply level up a blue intelligence-based gem to a max level without resorting to leveling up his intelligence.

So no, the class choice and skill tree is not at all pointless. What class you choose makes a difference because you start out in a different part of the skill tree. Yeah sure, you CAN start off as a marauder and work your way up to the magic-part of the skill tree... but why would you do that? You'd be wasting 20 skill points just getting there.

If anything, it's this freedom that is the beauty of the game. You no longer have six archetypes to play with. You have hundreds.

I actually really like D3 now that they're months down the line and am really looking forward to this coming out. Path of Exile is OK, but I have serious issues with the skill system.

Basically, you get your skills through attachable gems that you level up. This makes class choice just an aesthetic in the end, and almost pointless. I like the skill tree and the gameplay generally, just not the gems. At least in D3 the classes are what they are.

Need to play Grim Dawn though.

The death of self dignity too. I can't believe people are still supporting Blizzard after all this nonsense. Especially when there are now multiple excellent alternatives one can purchase, where you get a great game for a lower price, AND you get to keep your dignity intact.

Path Of Exile, Grim Dawn, Torchlight 2...
