Tencent, an online company that's a big deal in their native China, bought a minority stake in Epic Games last year. What no-one else knew until now, was exactly how big that stake is. According to Tencent's most recent financial report, it is revealed that 'In July 2012, the Group acquired certain equity shares of Epic Games, representing approximately 48.4% of its then issued share capital' paying $330,000,000 USD for the privilege. This gives Tencent the ability to nominate directors to Epic's board, and gives Epic games a platform for expanding into the Chinese market.

This isn't the first game company Tencent has made significant investments in - it holds the majority stake in League of Legends developer Riot Games - and it probably won't be the last.
