The Saxxy Awards debuted to recognise "excellence in combat filmmaking", featuring replays from Team Fortress 2 in a variety of categories, such as 'Most Inventive Kill' and 'Most Epic Fail'. Now the Saxxy's return, made bigger and better with the inclusion of Source Filmmaker.

Arriving this Fall, the second annual Saxxy Awards will feature works created with Source Filmmaker, as opposed to last years entries submitted with the Team Fortress 2 replay editor. The number of categories are less than last year, but the move to Source Filmmaker has meant that the awards take on a much grander feel, with the focus on longer movies. The categories are as follows:

Best Action
Best Drama
Best Comedy
Best Original Universe
Best Replay
Best Overall

Considering the wealth of Source Filmmaker talent already on show on YouTube, this year's awards should be a treat for the viewer. Winners will recieve a Golden Saxxy Statue, with the winner of the Best Overall category also recieving a trip out to Valve HQ for a filmmaking session, as well as having their work feature on GTTV's VGA Preshow this December. Plenty of incentive to get filming!

Valve have more information at the link above, with an important detail being that "Only entries submitted between Nov. 1, 12:00 AM and Nov. 15, 12:00 AM GMT will be considered".
