Firefly studios, makers of Stronghold and Space Colony, are re-releasing Stronghold and Stronghold Crusader in high definition. For those not familiar with the game Stronghold is a medieval strategy game originally released in 2001 and takes place in England and Wales around 1066 AD. The HD versions of the game will feature much higher resolutions than the original game, up to 2560x1600, and features a new zoom feature that can allows the player to see the whole map at once, making unit management easier.

Stronghold HD is now available on GOG, Amazon, GetGames and DotEmu. Buying the game on GOG comes with extras, including a full digital manual of the game, HD wallpaper and soundtrack. Also included is the Stronghold Excalibur pack and the super castle attack mini-game.
