Makers of delicious turn-based strategy game, Panzer Corps and Unity of Command, Slitherine has already made its niche in the market known to all fans, a maker of distinctly interesting turn-based strategic games. This thus makes it perfect then, to take on the Warhammer 40k license, what with its roots being the tabletop wargame that still ranks amongst one of the most-played non-videogame franchises to date. Now, they join the ranks of Full Control, Relic and Creative Assembly in having been blessed by Games Workshop, who in a rare moment of accord with the community, states that "the time of exclusivity is over" and the Warhammer 40k license is to be spread to the corners of the earth. Could this be a turning point for Games Workshop, a path to greatness? We shall see.

As for the upcoming game, Slitherine chairman JD McNeil plays his cards close to his chest, stating only the following:

"This deal represents yet another testament to our continuous aim to reach new audiences, without losing sight of who we are and what we do best. It's all about creating strategy games that are targeted to a particular audience and addressing a very specific need in the market. The Warhammer 40,000 setting is a perfect fit for the style of strategy games that we make and will be very popular with fantasy and science fiction fans alike. Joining forces with Games Workshop will allow us to bring an wonderfully deep and appropriate IP to the Turn Based Strategy genre"

So, right now, all we know is that it's gonna be turn-based strategy. And yet, somehow, that's enough to make me want to buy it.
