Sleeping Dogs Awakes the Dead

Sleeping Dogs' zombie based undead expansion, releasing 31st October, has gotten itself a teaser trailer. Drop kick the undead in the face!

'Nightmare in North Point' sees Hong Kong beset by the undead and otherwordly beings, all based around Chinese mythology. Does Wei Shen have what it takes to leave the undead bruised and bloody? Of course he does, he's god damn Wei Shen.

We'll be sure to review Nightmare in North Point soon after it releases, in the meantime why not read my review of Sleeping Dogs? Tempted to buy it? You'll also be pleased to hear that Steam has it 50% off this weekend. The time has never been better to explore Hong Kong and kick ass.

Yeah I can agree on that MrJenssen, but I feel like for Sleeping Dogs it will add a nice variety as so far the AI in the game is top notch, so they need to make a totally different AI and animation as a result for zombies which means they actually have to do a lot more extra work for this DLC than had they made a similar DLC but instead of zombies, just regular people as then they could have just used the existing animations and AI already in the game.

Those are not zombies, atleast not all, they are vampires from ancient china, and/or ghosts. :)

I can agree to that. As long as they do a good job, it isn't a problem. I mean, it shouldn't really matter who you're shooting at, whether they're nazis or zombies or terrorists or space marines or pedestrians or midgets or black people or superheroes. It's not like you have anything against enemy-X in real life or anything. But the whole zombie genre tends to get a bit monotonous at times. Especially when developers use zombies as a good excuse to not bother coding good AI.

I don't know why, but I still love zombie modes and games. Just never gets old, especially as developers experiment with completely different gameplay mechanics involving the undead. It just has something to it for me.

Zombies need to simmer down. Seriously. I will say though, I like the way the trailer was made, with that whole "Hong Kong B-movie" vibe to it. As long as they can keep it somewhat fresh, as long as it fits with the universe, it could offer a good few hours of entertainment.

... But man... Zombies....

At this point, I don't think I have to give my opinion on the topic of zombies no more.
