SimCity Patch 1.2 – Cheetah Speed Disabled

By now you have probably all heard about the many complaints and issues regarding SimCity. While this patch does not promise to fix any of those just yet, it is a first step in reducing server load.
The full list of changes are as follows:
- Fix for crash caused most commonly occurring on servers experiencing lag. This crash would happen most often when claiming a new city when playing in a region.
- Fix for server select dialog not appearing on start-up if the server the player was last on is not available.
- Disabled Cheetah speed. Cheetah speed is now the same as llama speed.
- Crash fix for finding closest points.
- Crash fixes in transport and pedestrian code.
- A fix cities having processing problems associated with helicopters.
Clearly EA still has a long way to go before this game will be operational and those who have purchased the game will have to wait some more till all the server issues are fixed.
In related news, Amazon USA had previously made the PC Download Edition of SimCity unavailable temporarily; while the reasons to this are unknown, they have since made the PC Download Edition available again. Amazon however does still have the important note regarding SimCity stating "Many customers are having issues connecting to the "SimCity" servers. EA is actively working to resolve these issues, but at this time we do not know when the issue will be fixed. Please visit https://help.ea.com/en/simcity/simcity for more information."

I can generally launch the game ok, but setting up a new region and claiming a plot of land to start a city in just isn't working, especially annoying since me and my friend were planning on doing this from the get go. Still, I managed to get on city created in my own private region and it was a lot of fun. Shame servers are fucked.
