SEGA of America confirmed that they are laying off an unspecified number of staff. Over the last 18 months, the company has suffered global closures. So staff were already laid off to help reduce operating overheads before this. This comes not long after SEGA Sammy bought Atlus.

A SEGA spokesperson said:

"As the gaming industry continues to evolve, Companies must adapt and adjust in order to compete and succeed in an ever-changing environment. As a result of this, Sega of America has recently undergone a restructure that will enable the company to focus efficiently on developing new and existing content across digital platforms as well as continuing to focus on key brands for packaged goods."

Hearing job losses within the games industries is never good news and is especially worrying when it is a big company like SEGA. Let us know what you think of this news.
