Second Assault DLC Brings Battlefield 3 Maps

Battlefield 4 is a great FPS game if you want to kill camping snipers with tanks or show everyone that you can't handle the controls of a military helicopter. And now the second DLC, called Second Assault, has been confirmed. What's in it?

Well, like in Battlefield 3's Back To Karkand, it's rehashed map time! This time the 4 chosen "fan favorite" maps are Operation Firestorm, Caspian Border, Gulf of Oman and Operation Metro. No, I'm not making a stupid joke – the critic favorite "let's complain about this map" spamfest of a clusterfuck, Operation Metro, is making a comeback. If I had to guess, it's because the devs hate themselves and want some close quarter combat to draw in the Call of Duty crowd. Meanwhile, the rest of us civilized people suffer.

I mean, seriously. A good way to measure a Battlefield map's worth is to look around the spawn at the beginning of the match. If it features tanks, jeeps and maybe even a helicopters, it's a good Battlefield map (except for that one in Seine Crossing – what is it with maps in France, anyway?). If it doesn't, it's probably a map that tries to be Call of Duty, and it shouldn't.

This is also a good way to determine which Battlefield 3 DLC was the best.

Also, since up until now, we we're able to talk about Battlefield 3 without vomiting in our mouths a little, DICE chose to rectify this situation, saying that the levels will feature levolution. While it's pretty obvious with Caspian (hint: it's the big sod off tower that collapses every match) and Metro (OMG, the street collapsed and we can now die in droves while rushing the entrance to the tunnels), it's interesting to see how this cancer on the English language will affect Firestorm and Oman.

So play, enjoy, and guess what we're getting in Naval Strike, Dragon's Teeth and Final Stand – because sure as hell it's not interesting naming conventions!

Absolutely putrid. At least BF3 got the best version of Karkand which was a whole lot better than Operation borestorm, Caspian mediocrity, It's kinda okay in oman and dogshit in map form.

If this was 2007-9, I'd be surprised that there wasn't another version of Wake Island coming (as much as I dislike it) but it just goes to show how much the audience for this series has changed.

Considering how many Metro servers there are in BF3, I might start thinking that a lot of BF players are actually closeted CoD fans.

Considering how many Metro servers there are in BF3, its inclusion in a pack of popular maps makes a lot of sense. As for Oman - they may include it in BF5 as well ).
