Save Your City With Shameless Ads

Every time I look, the SimCity story just seems to become ever more farcical. The latest wallbanger being the inclusion of a, admittedly free, piece of DLC for the game just made available to prettify your city. A Nissan Leaf charging station. And no, this isn't just some subtle, only notice if it's pointed out to you kind of thing. The word 'Nissan' is right there, in bold red letters, emblazoned across the front of the station for all to see.
"The charging station will be a new destination in player's cities where their Sims will drive their Nissan Leaf cars in order to recharge them. Once they leave, the Sims will find themselves happier. Plopping down the station will add happiness to nearby buildings. It will not take power, water, or workers away from your city. Zoom in to the streets of cities, and players will start seeing a percentage of their Sims from all wealth classes driving the electric vehicles. The station produces no garbage or sewage, as well, making it pollution free."
The official statement from Maxis themselves says nothing of whether this was a paid sponsorship deal, or a shameless attention grab in hopes of some kind of paid sponsorship. Either way, it's pretty darned shameless. Showing, yet again, money is more important than customer satisfaction. How, precisely, a charging station is supposed to make people happy...hell if I know. But there you have it.
But hey, at least it's free right?

It's always good to have more buildings for the game... but it's a bit shameless in its brand promotion :P
