Saints Row 4 Announced (Updated)

Just a few weeks back we heard a rumour of an upcoming Saints Row 4 announcement at PAX East. It didn't even get to that. Deep Silver were so impatient (and probably proud) that they released an announcement trailer today. Additionally it already has a release date - August 20, 2013 in North America and August 23 in the rest of the world.

Now with a lot of crazy punches and colourful explosions we can see that the game looks very similar to its predecessor. That raises a question did it really have to be called "4"? As we remember this was meant to be an expansion, then evolved into a standalone game – Enter the Dominatrix (not a sequel) and now it is a full-fledged sequel. Though in all honesty we saw a lot of things squeezed into those 67 seconds and to judge a game just from that is a bit unfair, especially considering that it will have a lot of new things going like having super powers (though this was done in the DLC), running for office and fighting giant energy drinks.

What do you think? Enjoy the inflating heads and hanging penises above and let me know your thoughts down below.

Update: Deep Silver said that they will not interfere with the development of Saints Row 4 and any faults are on Volition. Volition will even get time to polish the game without any pressure from the publisher. So whatever happens it’s all up to Volition now.

They will! They had a good balance of whacky vs. serious on SR 2. And while GTA4 went off balance with serious, SR3 went the other way... and now we get this. I betting in GTAV you'll have to get money for cancer orphan charities or something.

The once unique and amazingly awesome and daring title has become a lame cashcow like Call of Duty... ugh...

Looks like same city, same vehicles etc. More like DLC for Saints Row 3. They already lost so much good from Saints Row 2 with the third instalment, I'm really not excited for this.

I wonder if its enough though to warrant a full new purchase. It looks like it is just modded on content ontop of Saints Row 3...

Of course it isn't a serious relation, but just a joke.

They've started a trend in browsers, where each new numbered version is a small update over the last one. They've went from version 1 to 25 in less than 5 years.

Still looks too similar to justify a full +1
