Project CARS Teases Career Mode, New Footage
Facing stiff competition from racing sim powerhouses Forza Motorsport and Gran Turismo, Slightly Mad Studios' Project CARS seeks to separate itself from the competition by boasting incredible visual fidelity, while still providing a realistic experience. Not much is revealed in the video, aside from brief glimpses at a number of the cars and tracks contained within, but the game's website teases further the tiers one may participate in, along with planned community races for real-world prizes and asynchronous time-trial leaderboards.
Project CARS, standing for Community Assisted Racing Simulator, is currently under development by Slightly Mad Studios, who are perhaps best known for Need for Speed: Shift. Previously, the developers sought funding through their “World of Mass Development” portal, where much like Kickstarter, update-hungry people could spend money on specific tiers, gaining access to weekly builds, meeting minutes, chat with the developers, and more.
While there's still a few months to go before Project CARS hits its November deadline, the footage is already looking promising to anyone interested in racing games.
