Prepare To Revisit the Wasteland in September

Wasteland 2 was one of the first big games to be funded through Kickstarter, all the way back in 2012. It's been a while since, and though we've seen a decent amount of gameplay footage and even gotten our hands on the game's beta version through Steam Early Access, but it's been a long while. The game was delayed back in 2013 for various reasons, but never fear. The wait wasn't for nothing. As explained in a Kickstarter update post, the game's world is twice the size of what the Kickstarter budget (nearly $3 million) had allowed, due to the positive sales on Steam during the beta.

Well, now all that wait is soon behind us. Because as creator Brian Fargo (see above) has just announced on Twitter, the official release date is set. And it's September 19th! Ah, I love it when release dates are announced a month before the release actually occurs. Who needs hype, we're gamers! We want to play games!

No I'm not sarcastic at all. From a studio perspective, it's a bad idea to not have a hype-train going months and months before release. But for us gamers, it's great to have a release date announced, and the date is like a few weeks away.

Forgive me, but I'm not entirely sure whether or not you are being sarcastic. Personally, I actually do prefer this. It reduces my long-term anticipation, allows me to set realistic expectations, and reduces pressure on the dev team to meet some arbitrary release date. Thoughts?
