Plants vs. Zombies should be known by almost everyone by now. Although not as ridiculously enormous as Angry Birds, it's still pretty solidly ingrained in the heads of most children and adults who ever owned a smartphone. It's been known for a long time that a sequel was in the works, although PopCap and their newly found publisher EA have recently made it clear that Plants vs. Zombies 2 is iOS exclusive. At least for now.

Well, it's not all dark and grim for those of you who apparently want to play some more PvZ on your PCs! According to PopCap, there's also another game in the works. Titled Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare, it will supposedly feature multiplayer Co-Op and..."action"? Wait now. Isn't this Plants vs. Zombies? The wave-based tower defense game? Well, apparently it's only PvZ in name. Kotaku have gotten the inside scoop on this, claiming that it will be a first person shooter, and that it'll be "in the vein of Team Fortress 2".

So what do you all think of this? Happy to welcome this spin-off to the series? Or is it just another cash-grab from major industry scapegoat? Either way, the game is "coming soon", according to the official site, so I'm sure we'll know more about it in the coming days, at E3 and will keep you posted.

Update: Early reports about this being first person have now been shown to be incorrect. It is, in fact, a third person game in the style of Team Fortress 2.
