Pirates have been GTA’d, PC Style

Let me just make this clear, GTA V has not been announced for PC as of time of writing, nor will it possibly be till later in the year, or early next year. So if you happen to hear word of a leak of the PC version, rest (un)assured that it hasn't. Instead, unaware pirates (thousands of them) have downloaded fake torrents to discover that the package isn't exactly GTA V installed, but instead a programme that upon launch, infects the PC with malware while getting the user to fill in online surveys with personal details, that promises a registration code for GTA V upon completion. With these details, well...let's just say they, the phishers, will want to clean your pockets, and line theirs instead.

According to WCCFTech, the torrent has been downloaded thousands of times, although not specified, it is still very concerning and scary to say the least. So, the message here is, it isn't even announced yet for the PC, and you should inform your friends who are awaiting for the official announcement from Rockstar, to avoid this phishing trap. Basically, just use common sense, when it does get announced for a PC release, you'll be hearing it from us, until then, don't even consider touching those torrents.

While "they deserve it" seems like a good idea, it is not. First targets are computer illiterate people, which will infect their own PCs. That alone could make another problematic botnet for spam and DDoS attacks. Also, some viruses are too nasty to consider them something anybody deserves to get for the lack of knowledge. The biggest problem is the fact that viruses tend to spread and infect other PCs, causing a lot of problems for the much larger group of people. Being "righteous" is never worth the risk of a wide virus infection.

I agree with Ruby, especially on the dumb part.

Haha good. Not only are they scumbags trying to get a free game but theyre dumb enough to actually believe its the real game. Every website should stop reporting its actually a virus and let the pirates keep handing over their personal details
