Pirates Creed IV Multiplayer: Still no Ship Battles
Despite what many console scrubs may say, Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag is still not released. If you look at its Steam page it clearly says November 19. There aren't any other platforms in existence, so they must be wrong and therefore ignored. But a mere less than 2 weeks away from its official release date, makes it the perfect time to release a trailer showcasing the new multiplayer features. Above, can be seen the said trailer being voiced by the game's multiplayer Lead Designer, Tim Browne.
If Time Browne's voice is too intense for you, fear not as I will give you a brief rundown of what Assassin's Creed IV's multiplayer has to offer. First off, the game modes are basically the same, with a capture the flag, free-for-all, and team death match. The perks system is ripped straight out of every multiplayer game made in the past 6 years. There is the Blender Perk that makes a copy of your character in the crowd in order to confuse enemies. But if you don't want to stealth in a game about assassin's( What is wrong with you?), you can take the Unstoppable Perk to charge through crowds and run away like a real man. The abilities are kind of like the get out of jail free card. The new Time Phase will cause things within a certain radius to slow down, except for you of course.
On top of these, there's the character customization back from previous games, but significantly enhanced. Although, it's not like actually building a character from scratch, but just altering the pre-existing designs. More interesting is the new Game Lab. The mode where you can build your own game modes with specific rules and restrictions. Whether it be a no guns brawler mode, or the stealth kills only, the customization actually appears fun and intuitive to use.
While some of these features don't appear too different from the previous games, the Game Lab and maybe some of the new abilities make the game more appealing to me. And it's a good thing that they released this trailer before the game had been released, so I'd have a better idea of what I was getting into. I'm disappointed that there isn't any type of ship battles in the multiplayer, but hopefully the future will await with such news.
