Ubisoft have revealed that their upcoming Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Phantoms will get major changes. These include an optimised matchmaking system, new customisation option and general game improvements for new players. The trailer released shows these new options and here is a summary of the features.

New, fairer matchmaking system

Lead Designer, Simon Davies explained that matchmaking system not only takes into account players skills, but equipment performance when creating teams. The changes have been long coming as there is nothing more annoying than being up against players that have hours of play and crack-shots if you are new to the game.

ModMaster, a new weapon customization system

Launching with the game will be this new ModMaster system and weapon camouflages. All the current variants will be removed from the store and replaced with shiny, new customisable versions. “We wanted to find a way for players to differentiate themselves on the battlefield and create weapons that fit their style, so we created ModMaster to put that power in the hands of our players. This new system is also more cost savvy for players and creates more than half a million weapon configuration possibilities including fire rate, handling, scope and ready-time decisions,” explained Davis. Weapon camouflage will allow gamers to change the skin of their weapon. Only the first 10 will be available on launch with the rest following after.

Better new player experience

To help new gamers get into the Ghost Recon experience, a new user playlist has been extended from level five to level eight. In addition the first two tiers of weapons will be removed so new players get access to the better weapons to improve their combat skills. Ubisoft have also announced that weapon prices will be lowered.

As an additional bonus for those who buy Phantoms, Ubisoft managed to strike up an exclusive worldwide deal with music-subscription provider Deezer. Available at the Launch of Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Phantoms, players who successfully level up one character to level 30 will receive three months of free subscription to the premium+ service. This will give gamers access to all the songs that they currently offer.

All these goodies will be available at launch April 10. The music subscription will be available till June 30 and available in 36 countries.
