PAX 2012: Double Fine Show off The Cave
Prolific developer Double Fine, along with publisher Sega, have showed off more of their new adventure title, The Cave, at PAX. The Cave will be tunneling its way to consoles and PCs in early 2013, as a download title. Judging from the screenshots, it looks a bit like Trine with some Unmechanical thrown in. Tired of 'unique' and 'different' platformers from smallish developers yet? Well tough, because it's law that there has to be at least 9000 released each year. Here is how Sega described the game:
"If you enjoy rappelling, spelunking and dark rocky caverns then be prepared to be disappointed! And then intrigued. And then AMAZED. And then disappointed again, but only for a minute. Then relieved, amused, bewildered, excited, and satisfied. In that order. Your first clue that The Cave is a place like no other will come just after you assemble your team of three unlikely adventurers – each with their own unique personalities and skills – and stumble across a subterranean amusement park and a medieval castle, not to mention a fully armed and ready to launch nuclear-tipped ICBM."
I don't know why the player would be feeling disappointment, but that's what Sega had to say. If you're excited about this and can't wait for the release, have no fear, go play one of the other many platformers in the meantime. Or just enjoy the screenshots and leave a comment.
