Offline SimCity a Rejected Idea

Maxis General Manager Lucy Bradshaw has opened up again about SimCity and it's sort of but not quite really Offline Mode. While insiders have insisted that offline is possible, and modders have gone on to make it so, Bradshaw insists that to go and do so would be out of touch with the vision Maxis had for the game. In the linked update, Bradshaw insists that multiplayer was the focus and vision behind the newest incarnation of the SimCity franchise and offers a lot of pros for the multiplayer experience (provided they've finally got it working properly). She goes on to say that 'Always-Connected provides a platform for future social features that will play out over regions and servers. The game we launched is only the beginning for us – it's not final and it never will be. In many ways, we built an MMO', and pretty much went on to completely rule out an official offline mode coming from Maxis. Which practically means that if you want SimCity offline, you'll need to mod it, or just install a previous title - which might just be the better option.

It's annoying how much she lies in her statements.
