Obsidian Kickstarts Project Eternity
The countdown on the Obsidian webpage is finally over and has revealed Project Eternity, a new fantasy role-playing game that Obsidian hopes to fund via Kickstarter. Project Eternity aims to create a fantasy role-playing game that channels the spirit of classic PC RPG franchises such as Icewind Dale, Baldur’s Gate, and Planescape: Torment, titles which it should be noted, have been worked on at some point by various members of Obsidian’s staff.
The project is currently set to be led by Chris Avellone, Tim Cain, and Josh Sawyer, who are best known for their work on Planescape, Fallout, and Icewind Dale respectively.
Project Eternity is currently set to have a real-time party based tactical combat system, with the ability to pause the game to plan and coordinate attacks. Each member of your party will serve as your companion, and you will interact and engage in dialogue with them throughout the course of the story. Obsidian are promising deep choices and dialogue, as well as a chance to explore mature themes and storylines throughout the game.
Early backers can pledge a minimum of $20 dollars to the project in order to receive a digital copy of the game upon release. The project is currently set to be released around April 2014.

Quite interested myself. Could be really amazing. Speaking of Icewind Dale, Baldur's Gate, etc. by the way: all are on a pretty cool Promo over on GOG right now that I am trying not to fucking buy.
