Obsidian Collaborating With Allods for Skyforge
It has been announced that Obsidian Entertainment will be working with the online developer Allods Team on the forthcoming free-to-play MMO project, Skyforge. The news broke last week at the Russian Game Developer's Conference, KRI 2013.
Obsidian has previously gotten involved with projects pertaining to other company's IPs, having already worked on sequels for Bethesda and BioWare. However this is the company's first collaboration on an MMO with the Russian development team. It's an unexpected decision coming from Obsidian, the company that is presently working on the crowd-funded Project Eternity.
Obsidian CEO Feargus Urquhart has spoken of the collaboration via a Russian press release that those of you who speak the language can read here. I can't speak a jot of Russian myself so here's an extract roughly translated by Google:
"Skyforge is a very interesting and promising project and I am glad that Obsidian Entertainment is involved in working on this game. I am confident that the cooperation with the Allods Team will be a great experience for all of us."
Be sure to watch last year's trailer above (skip ahead to the 7 minute mark for the game in action). Skyforge is expected to be released at some point in 2014. What do you think of Obsidian's involvement with this project? Let us know in the comments.
