Not a Secret Anymore

By BloodyFanGirl11-04-2014

Earlier this year we previewed Secrets of Raetikon and now the game finally has a release date. The game puts players in the fantastic plumage of a mysterious bird-like being. Featuring colourful 2D vector style graphics, the game draws from the culture of the Raetic people (who roamed the Alps until the Roman Empire pushed them out) for inspiration and tells an epic story via Raetic runes. Gamers can glide through uncharted territory, uncovering secret areas, strange contraptions and terrifying beasts.

You can soar through the Alps and discover its secrets once again as of April 17th. It’ll be available for PC, Mac and Linux via Steam, the Humble store and the App store, initially for the discounted price of $8.99. The game has been available through Steam Early Access since January.

The full game on Steam will include ‘a full-featured level editor’ and workshop support. The game includes a number of other features such as “an emergent ecosystem influenced by your actions” with many different animals as part of it. The game’s developer, Broken Rules, have said that the world is hugely interactable and added “We wanted to create a game with high replay value and thus the AI and physics are the pillars the gameplay rests upon. Every animal has a distinct behaviour and all of them react to each other. Every bush can be uprooted and every branch torn out. The game is a story-based sandbox in an open world. And there is in fact a hidden gravity gun.” There are also heaps of puzzles with even more solutions, allowing players to “play creatively and solve puzzles the way you want”.

Lastly, the press release closes with the following note: “Yes, we're writing a and e as two letters now. Can't stick to ancient Roman traditions forever.” Check out the release trailer above and the official website.
