ZeniMax Media have filed a trademark application for something they've called 'The Void Engine Powered by ID Tech', sparking the suggestion that the publisher has created a brand new game engine - or at least encouraged the creation of a new iteration of (or an expansion of) the ID engine. Not much is known about the engine at this point, although it can probably be safely assumed that this next console generation (and by default, the PC) will be seeing games developed using the engine at some point in the next few years.
