Squeenix have decided to bridge the gap between PlayStation 3 and PC in an interesting way. Lightning, much maligned protagonist of the much maligned Final Fantasy XIII and upcoming Lightning Returns, is making a guest appearance in A Realm Reborn. For the console crowd, Lightning will have a neko (cat girl) costume to set tongues awagging. But we are above all of that childish fanservice nonsense.

On our side of the arrangement, Lightning herself appears as part of a FATE (Full Active Time Event) battle in which she will fight alongside the player. Upon successful completion, Lightning Returns themed weapons and equipment will then be granted as rewards.
