Minecraft is a popular game. Very popular considering the complete lack of marketing from its developer, Mojang, and it just reached 8 million units sold for the PC version of the game. Notch took to twitter this morning to announce the news.

While the 8 million for PC is impressive the game has also sold over 4 million on the Xbox 360. If my math skills haven’t failed me, that makes 12 million copies sold for the indie game. As icing on the cake Minecraft also replaced CoD as the number one game played for the Xbox 360. Who would have thought an indie game would be the one to de-throne CoD?
