MGS: Ground Zeroes' Base Are Belong to Us

Some of you may have heard about a little game called Metal Gear Solid Ground Zeroes, the next instalment of the sneaky sneaky stealth-action game. Deviating slightly from the familiar path laid down by previous titles in the series, Ground Zeroes throws in some new elements such as an open world and driveable vehicles. Sounds exciting, but wait, there's more! Making a return from the portable Metal Gear title, Peace Walker, is the base-building feature.

Hideo Kojima had this to say during the Eurogamer Expo:

"The concept of developing weapons at your base is a very cool idea, and something that could be popular. It's something we've been thinking of" he adds, "Furthermore, nowadays there are various ways to access the game world - you're not just playing in your living room on your games console," Kojima continued. "You may also access through your cell phone and other devices and still access that same game. I think in that respect that motherbase system lends itself very well to that system, and that's something we're planning on for Ground Zeroes."

It should also be noted that the base you build will be accessible during down time between each open world section that can be accessed via helicopter (more than likely the same one that turned up in the reveal trailer not too long ago). The base can be fully explored at your own leisure. This news making you excited? Well you will have to be happy rewatching this old gameplay footage again and again in the meantime.

Also featured in Ground Zeroes will be a full day and night cycle which is helped along by the enhanced lighting prowess of the brand new Fox Engine. Recon a base from afar during the day, wait until the sun sets, then strike? We will find out, when the game releases sometime next year. Hopefully on the PC as well.

Yeah, I'd been looking forward to it at first but my hopes have since diminished. Will probably still get it as a crazed fan but I've not set my expectations very high. Ground Zeroes is sounding far better and that short gameplay trailer really got my hopes up.

@Endzville - yeah, the names are a bit "ummmmm....ok..." but Ground Zeroes is the lesser of the two evils. Revengeance is a fucking horrible name and to be fair, it really doesn't look like a very good game either.

Sounding better and better. Count me excited indeed. On a side note, though, Ground Zeroes and Revengeance are seriously shit names.
