Metal Gear Rising was Accidentally Made Always Online (Updated)

After purchasing Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance on the PC, many users were shocked to find out that disconnecting from the internet caused the game to close.  According to posters on NeoGAF this may have been caused by the Steam API being used incorrectly, not allowing it to be run if steam is in offline mode. Fortunately, this was completely unintentional according to ToraShiro of Konami, as well as the Konami official Twitter  they are currently working on a fix. Please don't scare us like that again, Konami!

UPDATE: Konami has put out an update to fix this bug. According to Steve Key’s twitter “Offline problems *should* now be fixed. All new downloads will be fine - those who already downloaded, files should just be replaced. Please let me know how you get on and thanks so much for your patience and support.”  He also goes on to say that the bug had nothing to do with Platnium and Konami’s problem which they fixed.

I remain unconvinced. The fact they've addressed it so quickly does encourage me to give them the benefit of the doubt. But something about this just doesn't sit right with me. Feels a lot more like a "shit, they noticed!" kind of affair

Japanese devs need to step it up. So far, it's been one fuck up after the other. PC ports of most Japanese games are either lazy, or downright unplayable.

Do a proper job, or fuck off back to the consoles.
