Meow Meow Meow Meow Meow
With the popularity of Goat Simulator, it’s easy to see how it could be a trend setter. Shortly after Goat Simulator’s hype reached critical mass, Bear Simulator’s Kickstarter was launched. Now, a challenger approaches in the form of Cat Simulator. I would already start getting irritated at the slew of animal simulators coming out, as I really loathe when people beat a good idea to the point where it becomes a dead horse (if you’ll excuse my terrible animal reference in an article about animal simulators). However, Cat Simulator has my interest piqued, not only because I have three cats myself (and I’m only 20! Think of how many I’ll have by the time I’m 40. My cat lady future is bright.), but because of the absolutely fucking stellar rendering and animation job that’s being done on the kitties so far.
And when I say absolutely fucking stellar, I mean ABSOLUTELY FUCKING STELLAR.
Seriously, watch the video. But do it with the sound off, because for some reason, the developer decided to put the Nyan Cat song in the video and I mean...do I have to go there on why that’s a bad decision?
Okay, did you catch that animation at :47 through :51? DID YOU CATCH IT? THAT’S DREAMWORKS LEVEL CAT ANIMATION. THAT CAT’S FUR LOOKS LIKE PUSS IN BOOTS’ FUR FROM SHREK. THAT MOVIE WAS MADE BY A HUGE STUDIO, BUT THIS CAT WAS LOVINGLY RENDERED BY A FEW PEOPLE.
Cats inspire passion. Passion inspires cat related everything, including games that focus on chasing mice, climbing trees, eating, and sleeping. The Kickstarter also promises several different ways to customize your cat, unlockable cat abilities, different cat breeds, other animal friends, and even possible Oculus Rift support. OCULUS RIFT SUPPORT ON A KITTY GAME. THE FUTURE IS NOW.
One more animal simulator, though, and the nerd rage will awaken.
