Men of War Assaulting Again (Updated Screenshots)
When it was released, Men of War was a peculiar title. With a Singleplayer campaign that was entertaining for some time once you ignored the horrendous voice acting, the game truly shone in Multiplayer. Unlike Company of Heroes, tanks and vehicles did not have any health bar but the true armour of the tanks was taken into account when fired upon. This made for some interesting gameplay as tanks needed to be angled, withdrawn, outflanked or even sacrificed to take out the opposing steel behemoth.
Then Men of War: Assault Squad was released and fans of the SP campaigns watched in disbelieve as the game did away with any meaningful offline experience. However, what it took away there, it gave in Mulitplayer and once again players would fight it out on the online battlefield. Now, Men of War: Assault Squad 2 was announced. What does it promise? Well, it'll take the formula of the first Assault Squad (i.e. no story driven Singleplayer experience) and build upon it. What we know so far:
New single player skirmishes
Eight player co-op support and multiplayer 8v8 game mode
New multiplayer maps
Five factions and various battlefields in Europe, Eastern Europe, Northern Africa and the Pacific
Improved engine / graphics / sound
New Steam functionalities (Steam Cloud, Workshop, multiplayer and match-making)
Nothing drastic there but then again, MoW: AS was already a solid coop/MP title so why jump on a different horse?
