Mad Max Gameplay Trailer Gives Up The Goods
Yo jurors! Mad Max is a bit of an older IP at this point but games based on it have been scarcer than valuable resources in a wasteland. The last game I played based on Mad Max was on the NES console in 1990.
Well it looks like Warner Bros. and Avalanche Studios are going to try to break the drought and bring a quality Mad Max experience. The trailer above shows an open world wasteland where players will have to scavenge for materials to build and customize their car. Not stopping there, players will also have to outfit themselves with various armors and weapons to survive the various factions that inhabit this wasted world. There's more to say, but really, the video does a great job of highlighting what makes this game interesting so just check it out.
I'm a fan of Mad Max but I wasn't excited about the game when it was first announced. This trailer has me very interested buuuuuuuuut....
....what say you jurors?! Does this game look like the magnum opus for you? Or is your hype a little less than...humungous? Let us know in the comments.
For more news on this and other games, brave the internet wasteland to make the trek to Pixel Judge. This news is adjourned.

Actually, the Ass Cream games are a really bad example of open world these days. Because the open world aspect is completely redundant. They have a very clearly defined, linear story, in an open world that only actually serves to make travel times annoying, and provide asinine, but oddly compelling, distractions at every turn.
Naval missions anyone?

I was agreeing with you.

Kenpo, that's my point. Ever Open World Sandbox game ever developed has the same story: 'Hero ends up in a new area, and must work to take that area over from the people who currently own it for reasons made clear in the first hour of the game'.
Just Cause, every Assassin's Creed game after the first one, Saint's Row, they're all pretty much the same.

The game itself looks solid though. So there's that much at least

Well...at least you saw a plot somewhere in there. I didn't even see that much honestly. I saw an interesting game to play but nothing about the story elements moved me at all. Looks like it might be one of those games where the story is paper thin and serves only to be an excuse to setup the gameplay as opposed to being a strong point in and of itself.

I'm really disappointed by this. The Mad Max movies (at least, the good two movies) were mostly philosophical pieces backed up by action pieces - stories about a man for whom life away from people, doing what he had to do to survive, was leading him to become like the monsters that he was protecting people from.
This just looks like a generic open world plot in a post-apocalyptic wasteland.
