Lore and Behold - The World of Project Eternity
With only five days left in the Kickstarter campaign, Obsidian have revealed more details on the production and lore of the proposed Project Eternity. The isometric old-school RPG created using the same methods that were used in the original Infinity Engine RPGs. Environments are rendered from 3D builds and then artists go back into the renders and add the details to various parts of the world. By working with this method, the artists can achieve a great amount of detail without needing massive amounts of resources and computing power. Obsidian have also released a new screenshot to give pledgers an idea of what the finished product might look like.
Additionally, Obsidian have detailed the vast lore making up the world of Project Eternity, full of the many complicated names, races, geography, politics, and faiths that are sure to give lore hounds a stiff nerd-on. The full details can be found here, as well as a video update from the devs walking you through all the juicy tidbits. This page also details the new campaign stretch goals, which include a customizable player stronghold as well as the addition of a second large hub city.
If you've been aching for a large scale, old school RPG, now would be the time to check this out and perhaps throw a few dollars Obsidian's way.
